Black Tie Event

Dear Valued Customer,
At KidsFormal.com we are in full holiday swing and we are sure you are too! We hope that your holiday season has been fun and exciting so far. With all the holiday festivities, we know that each one will require a different type of formal attire – and when you have little ones, it can be difficult to make sure they are dressed appropriately. We want to help you with this issue and the first step is to understand the different terms regarding the required dress.

Black Tie Event: When an invitation says it’s a “Black Tie Event,” that means that the event requires the utmost formality. For example, men and boys will need to wear a full tuxedo. Women and girls will need to wear a long, formal dress also known as a cocktail dress.

Formal Event: Generally, a “Formal Event” is considered to be the same as a “Black Tie Event.” However, it may also be acceptable for men and boys to wear a suit with a nice shirt and no tie. It really depends on the nature of the event. If in doubt, it’s always best to contact the event’s host or hostess.

Semi-Formal and Casual Events: A “Semi-Formal Event” or “Casual Event” are both the same type of events, as far as the attire goes. Boys should wear nice suits to these events and girls should wear short and stylish dresses. Generally, dark suits are best, but depending on the time of year and where the event is being held, a light suit may be more appropriate.

The holidays are fun and full of festivities and they each require different attire. We understand how confusing the dress requirements can be for different event and it is our hope that the above definitions have helped you. Regardless of what attire your next formal event calls for, we can help you find the perfect attire for the little ones in the family. In fact, right now through December 24th, we are offering a 20% off coupon valid on any product – no minimum required. So, hurry over to KidsFormal.com and get your children the holiday attire they need for less!

Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

KidsFormal Newsletter - Winter Wedding

Dear Valued Customers,
Can you believe Thanksgiving is just over a week away? Soon after all the festivities “Turkey Day” brings, Christmas shopping will be heavily underway. Not only will Christmas be on the way, but many brides-to-be will be counting down the days until their winter wedding arrives.

Of course, the staff at Kidsformal.com love weddings no matter when they occur, but we especially enjoy winter weddings. There just seems to be something magical about this time of year and it’s great to experience this magical feeling at a wedding! Therefore, in honor of all the brides-to-be planning a winter wedding, we have compiled a list of tips that you might find helpful!

Location: Winter weddings can be just as beautiful as spring or summer weddings, but they do require a different setting since the temperature is so much cooler. A few ideas for great winter wedding locations include:

• A Bed & Breakfast – This is the perfect place for a small and intimate winter wedding. Make sure the room has a fireplace that can be lit to make it even more intimate!

• A Lodge in the Mountains - What better place to have a winter wedding then in a lodge in the mountains where there is snow all around? Your guests can even stay an extra day or two and enjoy the nearby skiing!

• A Historical Building – Some of the most beautiful winter weddings have been held in historical buildings such as beautiful churches, amazing mansions and majestic castles!

Wedding Attire: For the most part, the wedding attire will be the same. The bride will be in a beautiful wedding dress and the groom will be in a formal tuxedo. However, there are a couple things that can be done to make the attire a little more fitting for winter.

• Dress Style – A lot of winter brides choose wedding gowns that have sleeves to help them stay warmer and create a more “winter” feel among the guests. However, if you have your heart set on a sleeveless dress, then consider adding a beautiful wrap or shawl to accentuate your dress.

• Bridesmaids and Flower Girls - Bridesmaids and flower girls dresses can also be paired up with stunning wraps, shawls and jackets to bring out the winter theme as well!

• Jewelry – Jewelry is another important aspect for winter themed weddings. Many associate snow and ice with winter, therefore having lots of sparkling “icy” accents will help tremendously. Therefore, choose jewelry that has diamond or crystal pieces to give your attire the extra touch it needs.

Decorations: There are many ways you can decorate your winter wedding. However, if you need a little help thinking of ideas, below are a few to get you started.

• Christmas Trees – Use miniature Christmas trees to help decorate the reception hall for your wedding. These can even be used as centerpieces for the tables!

• Ice Sculptures – As mentioned before, ice is often associated with winter, therefore, having ice sculptures at your wedding is an exquisite way to enhance your winter themed wedding!

• Crystal Bouquets – Make your bouquet a keepsake by having it made entirely of crystals! This will not only help make your winter wedding more “wintery” but it will also give you a beautiful wedding keepsake that you can showcase in your home. You can also have smaller bouquets with crystal accents made for your bridesmaids as well.

Hopefully, you’ve found a few ideas to help you plan your winter wedding whether it’s next month or a year from now. If you are looking for the perfect flower girl dress or accent pieces, such as the wraps and shawls mentioned above, then visit KidsFormal.com and we’ll help you find exactly what you’re looking for!

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Kids Formal November 1st Newsletter

Dear Valued Customer,

In our October 15th newsletter, you received our helpful tips for the right way to measure your flower girl for her dress. Please remember that those tips can also be used when measuring your little girl for any kind of dress that you need to order her – not just flower girl dresses. Now, the staff at KidsFormal.com knows that not only do little girls need to be measured for their dresses right, but little boys also need to be measured correctly for their suits and tuxedos.

Therefore, for your November 1, 2010, newsletter we are providing you with everything you need to know about how to measure your little man properly for a suit or tux. It is important that a little boy has a suit or tux that fits him correctly, because if he doesn’t it will not only look bad, but it may get damaged easily as well. There are several areas that you must measure for your little one’s suit to fit well. Please follow the simple instructions below.
  1. Chest: Measure just below the armpits all the way around the chest. The tape measure needs to be snug, but also slightly loose.
  2. Sleeve: To measure the length of the sleeve, you need to measure from the point of the shoulder blade where the bone juts out down to a little past the wrist.
  3. Jacket: You will need to make sure the jacket comes in the right length as well. For a standard jacket, measure from the nape of the neck down just a little below the buttocks (the base). For jackets with a tail or ¾ length…measure to the top of the knees, actually right above is perfect.
  4. Waist: Wrap the measuring tape around the waist just above the hips. Again, like the chest – the measuring tape should be snug, but slightly loose.
  5. Leg (Outside): Measure from the waist (just above the hips) to one inch below the ankle.
  6. Leg (Inside): Measure from right below the crotch to one inch below the ankle.
That’s it! Measuring for a boy’s suit or tuxedo doesn’t have to be difficult. Simply follow the instructions above and you should have no trouble ordering a well-fitted suit for your little one. However, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call us at KidsFormal.com. We would love to help you!

Because you are such a valued customer, we would like to offer you a 15% off coupon on your next purchase at KidsFormal.com. When you wish to redeem this coupon, just enter the coupon code "vip15" at the time of checkout.

Sincerely,

Kids Formal - Mid October Newsletter

Dear Valued Customer,

As Halloween approaches so does the upcoming holiday season of 2010! While the holidays are exciting in and of themselves, the staff at KidsFormal.com knows that after New Year’s we will begin working with more and more brides as they prepare for spring and summer weddings! However, we also know that there are many brides out there that are preparing for fall and winter weddings as well.

Sometimes tasks that appear to be pretty simple turn out to be more difficult than anticipated. Picking out a flower girl dress is one such task, especially if the flower girl doesn’t live in the same area as the bride. Therefore, we want to help you out when it comes to ordering your flower girl dress. There are a lot of things to consider as far as finding the right dress, but the real concern is making sure you order the right size of dress. Below you will find the helpful tips you need to order your flower girl dress!

How to Measure: Ordering the right sized flower girl dress all comes down to measuring the little one correctly. When measuring:

-       Keep the measuring tape snug when measuring, but make sure it isn’t too tight or too loose…it should be loose enough to allow a little movement but not enough to fall off or bunch up at the top.

-       You can use string to measure a child if you don’t have a measuring tape on hand, just measure the string when you have the chance.

-       The child should be standing straight up when you measure her.

-       Be sure you double check the measurements before you make the final order.

What to Measure: Now that you know how to measure your little one, you need to know what to measure!

-       Her chest at the bust line.

-       Natural waist – this is immediately above the hip bones.
-       Height – To do this measure straight from the should to the ankle. You should measure the part of the shoulder that meets the collar bone. This is close to where a bra strap would rest.

Now that you know how and what needs to be measured to order a properly fitting flower girl dress, you are ready to begin shopping! Head on over to KidsFormal.com and check out the extensive inventory of flower girl dresses that we have in stock. You’ll find our prices to be very reasonable and the dresses to be the high-quality gowns you’re looking for! If you have any questions, feel free to call us and we will gladly help you.

Sincerely,

Your Friends at KidsFormal.com

That means shopping for school supplies, getting new haircuts and buying new clothes! To say August is a busy month is a bit of an understatement!

With all the hustle and bustle of back-to-school shopping, we are reminded of how children come to be. There’s actually a great Brad Paisley song that sums it up, “All Because Two People Fell in Love.” As many parents are busy getting their little ones ready for the first day of school, many others are preparing to welcome their first child into the world. Not only does this call for a big celebration, but like back-to-school shopping, it also calls for a lot of preparation. There are many must-have supplies that are needed for a new baby, as well as, great clothes!

It is the “much more” that KidsFormal.com is familiar with. We have a huge selection of beautiful formal wear for babies. Regardless of if you’re looking for the perfect Christening gown for your little one, a little boy suit or a darling dress for your new little princess – Kidsformal.com has it! Children's Formal Attire That Will Inspire You.

Dear Friends,
It’s already July 15th and soon summer will be over and kids will be back in school. This means two things – 1) our busy wedding season is coming to a close and, 2) engaged couples are beginning to look for ideas to help plan their own weddings! Today’s newsletter is designed to provide some inspiration for newly engaged couples who are in the early planning stages for their weddings.
Choosing the appropriate formal attire for everyone in your wedding party is an important task that will require careful consideration. However, it doesn’t have to be a stressful task. For example, start with the least demanding members of your wedding party – the flower girl and ring bearer and work your way up. To help you get started, the KidsFormal.com staff has compiled a few of our most popular styles below.

At first this boys’ tuxedo (product #149kfg-blk-blk) may look like any other, however, take a closer look. The dress pants with this tuxedo are shorts! For summer weddings, this tux creates a unique look. Your ring bearer will look very formal as the suit has a jacket, vest, white dress shirt and a matching bow tie. Yet, the short, pleated tuxedo pants give the one sporting it a look of casual grace as well.

If you prefer a more traditional look for your young ring bearer, then this 5-piece tuxedo will do the trick remarkably well! This particular tuxedo (product #154fg) features the tuxedo jacket, pants, vest, white dress shirt and bow tie. However, what makes this tuxedo stand out from the crowd is the beautifully patterned detail on the jacket, vest and bow tie. This tux will give your ring bearer a traditional look of elegance that everyone will appreciate.
This particular flower girl dress (product #1059ktt) is very popular with those who are looking for a more traditional dress for their flower girl. The satin dress features a simple bodice with a gorgeous lace overlay at the waist. The full skirt contains two rows of satin taping to give it a double-layered look. This dress is available in both white and ivory. Flower girls look, and feel, like princesses in this gown!

This flower girl dress (product #PF204) is a popular choice for those seeking to create a beautiful wedding, yet prefer to take a step or two away from the traditional look. While the dress looks simple, the fact that it is sleek and doesn’t have a full skirt gives it the untraditional look that many brides-to-be are looking for. The dress is only available in white and ivory, however, the sash is available in a wide variety of colors to ensure you will find one to match your wedding colors!
The boys’ tuxedos and flower girl dresses featured above are just a sample of the large selection we have at KidsFormal.com. We are confident that you will find the perfect attire for the little ones in your wedding at Kids Formal. We are here to help you create a beautiful wedding that you will cherish for years to come. So, please feel free to browse our website and contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.
Sincerely,

Summer Wedding

Good Afternoon and Happy July!

We’re not sure about you, but the summer sure is flying by for those of us at Kids Formal! Before you know it, it will be time to start shopping for presents and pretty Christmas dresses for the kids! But, that’s still several months away so, for now, lay back and enjoy the summer sun!

While summertime is the busiest time for weddings, it’s also one of the best times to celebrate an engagement. Most couples spend at least a year planning the perfect wedding, so those who want to get married next summer are still in the planning stage now! For this reason, we felt that it would be helpful to provide our loyal customers with a newsletter with helpful tips for planning a summer wedding!

1. Decide where you want your wedding and reception, and don’t hesitate to get it reserved! Doing this a year in advance is best, but it’s pertinent that you do it at least six months in advance.
2. If you are planning an outdoor wedding, be sure to have a “Plan B” in case the weather doesn’t cooperate.
3. Pick exciting summery colors for your wedding. Pastels are great, but bold colors such as yellow, orange and red are beautiful too!
4. Consider using exotic or tropical flowers for the wedding.
5. When it comes time to go dress shopping, look for dresses made of materials that will allow the bride to stay cool! Stay away from thick and heavy dresses.
6. When picking bridesmaids dresses, look for fabric that is fun and lightweight. Thin cotton dresses or short party dresses are always fun for summer weddings!
7. For the little ones in the wedding, keep their attire fun and cool too! Summer weddings are no fun for flower girls and ring bearers when they’re hot. And, when the little ones aren’t happy, everyone will hear about it! Consider a lightweight cotton dress for the flower girl and a boy’s tuxedo featuring short dress pants for the ring bearer. KidsFormal.com has some great summer formal wear options for the little ones in your wedding.
8. For the reception, keep the menu light and full of color! Salads, fruits and fresh veggies with a variety of dips are great items for summer wedding menus.
9. Most importantly, have fun!

Planning a wedding can be very stressful and time consuming. Our goal at KidsFormal.com is to help reduce that stress! Please keep us in mind when it comes time to find formal wear for all the children in your wedding. We are certain we will be able to find you the perfect summer wedding attire for them at an exceptional price! Also, keep checking back with us as we periodically run great promotions throughout the year!

Have a safe and wonderful Fourth of July Weekend!!

Turquoise: A True Gem of a Color

There are some colors that just make you happy and feel good. Turquoise is one of those colors. It is a mixture of blue and green, and sometimes has a yellowish tint to it as well. Turquoise got its name after the gem, Turquoise. Turquoise, the gem, has a long history dating back long before the birth of Christ. The Egyptians from the First Dynasty mined the stone from the Sinai Peninsula. It was also discovered by the Persians, in the area now known as Iran. As many know, Turquoise is heavily mined in the United States today. It is prevalent in many southern states including Arizona, Nevada and California. This beautiful gem is used primarily for jewelry and other fashion products.

The color Turquoise is just as beautiful as the gem and is also primarily used in fashion. However, it can also be used as an accent color in home décor as well. When one sees the shimmering blue-green color known as turquoise, it is hard to take your eyes off of it. The color has a tendency to make us feel happier and uplifted. Perhaps, this is why it is a popular choice for summer weddings. Retailers such as KidsFormal.com sell many turquoise flower girl dresses every spring and summer. The color is just fun, happy and uplifting – truly making it a gem of a color!

Wedding colors: The Soothing Shade of Sage

Think of the color sage as a laid back shade of green. The color green is a bright color that symbolizes life and energy. Sage is just a mellower version of that. While it does still represent life and energy because it is a shade of green, the color sage is a very peaceful and relaxing color. Just look at the coins that have been made from it by Americans: Quarters, Nickels and Dimes – not to mention all of the collectible coins also made from Silver. Another reason wealth is associated with Silver is because in previous centuries it was customary to display one’s wealth by holding fancy dinners where the family’s finest dishes, often silver, were used. This is still practiced today among the wealthy.
The metal Silver is a hardy mineral and has been proven to stand the test of time. Likewise, the color Silver has became a timeless color that is used to depict the same. Why a White Flower Girl Dress

Everyone knows the opposite of black is white. This is true in every sense. Black is not just the darkest color, but is also associated with evil. White is the lightest color, some even describe it as the absence of color, and it is associated with everything good and pure. Black has a tendency to bring negative thoughts, while white brings out positive thoughts. White is also a very religious color. Because it is used to promote goodness, purity and innocence, it is used for many religious ceremonies. For instance, infant dedication and baptismal gowns are traditionally white to represent the child’s innocence and purity. White is also worn for the First Communion ceremony performed by Catholics. White is also the ultimate choice for a flower girl dress.

While the color white depicts innocence, purity and goodness, it is also known for symbolizing virginity. Perhaps the most celebrated tradition, which also has religious roots, is represented with the color white. While there are many traditions associated with weddings, the most well-known tradition is that the bride wears a beautiful white gown. The reason behind this tradition is that the bride is celebrating the fact that she has remained pure and innocent for her husband-to-be. It is now becoming quite popular for the flower girl to wear a white dress that is close to the same style as the bride’s gown. While many think white is a boring color, it is one with a lot of history and meaning. Think of a perfect white flower girl dress.

Ivory: Understated Elegance

Ivory is a color that is closely associated with white, however, it should be considered its own unique color. While from a distance, Ivory can be mistaken for white, however it is a completely different color upon closer inspection. Ivory is not as bright as white because it has more neutral, earthy tones than white does. Ivory represents much of the same things that the color white does. These include softness, pureness and cleanliness, but the difference is that ivory does so in a much warmer and elegant way. The earthy and neutral tones within the color ivory make it a calming color.

It is becoming very popular for brides to wear beautiful gowns of ivory instead of white. This also carries over to their flowers, invitations and wedding décor. The reason is because it has an understated elegance associated with it. It isn’t as bright as white, and therefore, it isn’t quite as bold – it has almost a creamy look to it that appears to be very elegant. If you are looking for a color to compliment another color that is more elegant than white, then ivory is what you’re looking for. Ivory works well with a variety of colors including orange, brown, turquoise and sage.

Everyone Loves a Dusty Rose

Dusty Rose is one of those colors that people find hard not to like. It is a muted shade of pink, and actually brings to mind a pink rose that was caught in an Oklahoma dirt storm. This is because while it is pink, it also has a tint of brown to it. While that combination may sound ugly, it is actually quite pleasing on the eyes. The actual color pink has a very calming and soothing energy about it. Now, hot pink has the tendency to make us want to be more active, which actually promotes boosting our energy levels. However, hot pink is still soothing because it brings us happy and positive thoughts. The color Dusty Rose does not boost our energy levels like hot pink, but instead the neutral brown tones found within it cause us to feel very relaxed and calm.

The calm and relaxed feelings that Dusty Rose brings, are often times very welcomed in a world as busy and stressful as ours. The color is perfect for redecorating a room in your home or even for weddings. Summer Whisperings of Pink and Baby Blue

Pink and Baby Blue are two of the softest colors available. Both of these colors give off a calming and peaceful energy. Baby Blue is a color that closely resembles the color of the sky, which gives it a light and airy feeling. When you gaze at something the color baby blue, you naturally begin to feel a little lighter and maybe even happier. It is one of those colors that naturally soothes, and has a way to make our troubles seem a thousand miles away. The color Pink has these same qualities. While it is not the color of the sky, unless it happens to show up in the sunset, it is still a light color that instantly makes our day a little brighter.
While it is traditional for baby showers to be decorated in pink or baby blue depending on the sex of the baby-to-be, they are also appropriate colors because they are both peaceful and relaxing colors that promote tranquility. This also makes them perfect colors for summer weddings – especially outdoor weddings! Just picture the bridesmaids and flower girl coming down the aisle in a baby blue or pink dress. The wind is blowing just enough to catch the fabric so the guests can see it gently “kissing” the dresses – almost as if it’s a whisper of the wind. Thus, creating a beautiful prelude to the main attraction – the bride!
